The stores are also an important part of our mission to help people in emergency situations.
“We provide thousands of dollars worth of free clothing and furniture to individuals and families in hard times," said Alan R. Garner, president & CEO of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania. "People in need are referred to us by social workers, ministers and other sources. With their input, we determine what is needed and issue a voucher for those in need to come in and choose what they need from the merchandise on the floor.”
Our stores are completely stocked with merchandise donated by generous area residents. We convert donated items into hope and promise for people in need. Every time you donate, you will feel good, knowing that the sale of each item supports our programs such as affordable housing for seniors, subsidized housing for adults diagnosed with mental illness, and promoting self-sufficiency for the homeless and others overcoming personal crisis.
